For those coming to Bali on a travellers budget and not to fussed about the frills, Canggu offers an enormous amount of affordable options. You don’t have to spend much to get decent accommodation in Bali – most cheaper options still offer perfectly good amenities, cheerful staff, clean, well-maintained surroundings, a swimming pool and a great location!
Kosone is Canggu’s newest boutique hostel. It offers eco friendly accommodation with an exceptional location overlooking both ocean and rice fields. The hostel is only a few minutes walk to the beach as well as Canggu’s fantastic shops, restaurants, cafes and night life. Kosone is the perfect place to meet new people, relax and unwind. Being part of the Gu Village, it boasts a large beach-themed swimming pool and social hub on the second floor which is equipped with a Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean. The dorm rooms are super comfortable with extra large single beds that can fit two, if anyone wishes. Purpose built with personalized safety boxes and reading lights. Dorms can be booked as both mixed or female only rooms.
This is a small guesthouse run by a German couple with more than 15 years experience in the business. Papaya is located on a quiet sideroad just off Batu Bolong and is within walking distance of the beach. The eight rooms are a mixture of traditional Balinese design and modern convenience. All rooms come with private bathrooms, flat screen tvs and dvd players, air-conditioning, safes, wi-fi and a private balcony or terrace. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning on the outdoor terrace. The focal point of the guesthouse are the pool and gardens around which all the rooms are centred. There is also a communal kitchen and a small library of books and dvds.
The Bali View Homestay can be found at the end of a small road just off Jalan Pantai Berawa. It consists of 4 cosy, but spacious, rooms and a small central pool and outdoor seating area. All the rooms come with flat screen tvs, dvd players and private bathrooms. There is a communal kitchen and dining area, which comes equipped with a soundsystem. Rooms can be booked individually, but this is also the perfect property for sharing with a group of friends.

For those that don’t want to blow their entire budget, but wouldn’t mind a little bit of luxury these are the accommodation options for you. The following villas and hotels generally offer a large swimming pool, complimentary breakfast and fantastic amenities as just a starting point.
Frii Bali Echo Beach
A funky boutique hotel that will give you a lot of bang for your buck. Frii has an instantly recognisable multi-coloured exterior that makes it immediately stand out on the Canggu skyline. The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the beach and is just around the corner from some of the best cafes and bars in Canggu. There are a variety of room types on offer including family rooms and pool/ ocean view, all at a very reasonable price. The appreciation for design is as evident inside as it is outside – the room layout has been well thought out, there are desks (and plenty of plug sockets!) for those on ‘working’ holidays and all rooms have distinctive pieces of art. Frii is a great option for surfers as there is board storage and cleaning facilities as well as a small selection of rental boards. The hotel has two pools, a poolside bar and a rooftop lounge and restaurant with a 360° view of the surrounding paddy fields, mountains and ocean.
This is a 7 bedroom property in Pererenan, situated only 100m from Canggu beach. The villa can be booked in its entirety but separate rates are also available for individual rooms. The design aesthetic is an eclectic mix of antique Javanese / Chinese and modern Balinese which combine to give the villa a very distinctive feel. For those seeking a little more luxury, Canggu offers a number of high end alternatives. Think exclusive location, stylish interiors, state of the art facilities, magical swimming pools and more often than not, jaw-dropping views of either the rice fields or ocean (and sometimes both). Lap up luxury with incredible services and amenities often including personal staff, morning yoga sessions, mouth-watering breakfast buffets, infinity swimming pools and wonderfully groomed gardens.
Echoland is a clean but quiet bed and breakfast situated down a sideroad, but still within easy walking distance of the beach and a few of the famous Canggu nightlife hotspots. A small but elegant pool dominates the central part of the complex and a variety of room types are available, ranging from shared dormitories (up to 4 people) to private deluxe doubles. Continuing with the artistic theme is Room 13, The Slow’s own art gallery and exhibition space. Not only does Slow offer incredible accommodation, but also world class dining; its restaurant ‘Eat & Drink’, headed by world renowned chef Shannon Moran, serves an amazing menu of Asian / International fusion, and is currently one of the best places to eat in Canggu. The house lies only 600m from the beach, close to all the hustle and bustle of Canggu, yet is given an air of privacy by surrounding paddy fields. The team behind Mandala House describe it as having ‘Rockstar Luxury’ and this is fitting: each of the bedrooms are en suite king rooms, there are two swimming pools, a cinema, gym, secret library and 6,300 sq ft of living space!
